Terri and Lamont are CHFA homeowners living in Aurora. When they decided it was time to purchase a place of their own, they learned about CHFA’s programs to support homeownership, including down payment assistance options.

“When it came to purchasing a home, CHFA’s down payment assistance helped us a lot,” explained Terri. “A down payment is a lot of money to come up with at once, and this assistance made a big difference.”

As part of the homebuying process, Terri and Lamont enrolled in a homebuyer education class. “CHFA’s homebuyer education class was very useful, and it helped us become aware of the whole process of buying a home,” Terri explained. “It was full of great information.”

Today, Terri and Lamont are proud of their home and the investment they made in their future.

“We take pride in what we’ve been given,” says Terri. “I just feel so blessed and grateful. Our home is a little slice of heaven! For us, homeownership means that we have something that we can pass onto our kids. It will show our children that they can own something too—that it’s possible to have something of their own.”
