Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Since 1979, the organization has served the Denver area by providing affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.
CHFA’s Home Finance Division supports Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver through the purchase and servicing of home mortgages for Habitat homeowners. As of August 2024, CHFA had purchased and serviced 135 home mortgage loans for $23.5 million from Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver.
In February 2024, CHFA awarded $13.2 million in New Markets Tax Credits to support Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver in their acquisition and rehabilitation of a 46,000 square foot vacant building in Denver’s Athmar Park neighborhood. Upon completion, the renovated structure will serve as the organization’s new headquarters and will increase Habitat’s capacity to provide affordable housing and services in the Denver area while creating and retaining an estimated 140 jobs. The new facility will feature spaces for commercial offices, community meetings, production and manufacturing, and a Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which sells gently used donated goods to benefit Habitat’s programs.
For years, CHFA has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to organize volunteer days for CHFA staff. Habitat offers a variety of ways to serve including new home construction, home renovation and repairs, and shifts at the ReStore.
In addition to volunteering, CHFA has been pleased to support Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver through various event sponsorships and donations. They were the beneficiary of the 2013 David W. Herlinger Golf Tournament, a fundraising event held each year to support nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFA’s mission of investing in affordable housing and community development.
