In this session, CHFA Physical Inspection Officers (PIOs) will review the types of inspections for properties with HUD funding, Housing Tax Credits, and risk-share loans. The class will help you to understand the inspector's goals so that you can use your time to prepare most efficiently for an inspection.

This session will give an opportunity for onsite staff to dive into the changing inspection standards under NSPIRE. Starting in January of 2024, CHFA transitioned to the NSPIRE inspection protocol in accordance with IRS requirements and the HUD NSPIRE standards. 

The PIO team will discuss the deficiencies that are frequently cited under the new standards and items often observed during inspections. Additionally, a brief overview will be provided of the new CHFA NSPIRE Guidebook to help you prepare for your inspection, regardless of funding source.
