February 18, 2025 8:55am - 12:00pm MT

Online

Location: Attendee Hub, https://cvent.me/QVAm9W

Log in: 8:55am MT

Class: 9:00am to Noon MT

This training provides a foundation of knowledge and skill in providing Healing-informed Care (HIC) to clients of all walks of life.

Often referred to as Trauma-informed Care, the training focuses on enhancing the knowledge, skill, and confidence of direct care providers with clients who are stressed and/or traumatized.

Information regarding stress and trauma will include common terms such as "secondary trauma," "burn-out," and "compassion fatigue." The class will create an understanding of the holistic effects of stress and trauma on individuals, as well as the effects on direct service providers.

This content will also provide an understanding of the impact of trauma on the brain's ability to plan, process, learn, and relate. Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other approaches will be utilized to apply HIC and other concepts to client scenarios.

The first of three sessions in the series, the February 18th workshop will provide a foundational understanding of HIC, with an emphasis on self-care. HIC concepts will be applied to yourself and client scenarios.

After completing the workshop, attendants will be able to:

  • explain HIC to a colleague;
  • understand the ways stress or trauma might impact clients or you;
  • identify at least one thing you could do for effective self-care; and
  • plan how to apply concepts or approaches in day-to-day work with staff.

Save the date for part two on March 6th, when we will focus on working with triggers. The series wraps up on April 16th with an exploration of ways to engage and retain client motivation.

This session will be recorded and available in the Attendee Hub (https://cvent.me/QVAm9W) until February 28, 2025.
