In-person, Denver

Location: Center for Trauma & Resilience, Denver

Class: 9:30am to 4:30pm MT

Join us for a workshop exploring the effects of vicarious trauma and learning wellness strategies.

An experiential workshop for those who bear witness to others’ stress and trauma, the workshop sets the stage for participants to create an individualized annual self-care plan to foster life balance. The workshop provides an opportunity to learn through hands-on participation and in confidential, small-group discussions. Professionals learn how to reimagine their daily routines and find ways to nurture and sustain themselves to build resiliency.

Recognizing the impact of listening to others’ pain, the physical and emotional challenges of such work, and the toll this work takes on professionals, the workshop includes a variety of relaxation and resiliency-building techniques, such as creative arts, music, movement, and meditation.

This type of self-care is designed to promote healing from the emotional and physical damage caused by compassion fatigue and to assist in the development of resiliency. Self-care assists professionals to put things in perspective and revive their faith in humanity and social justice. It also provides an opportunity to revive belief and value in one’s own self help.

Participants will:

  • practice stress management techniques;
  • experience self-care and resilience tools such as meditation, aromatherapy, and journaling; and
  • create a personalized self-care plan.

Recapture your energy for working with the public!
