Bridges Out of Poverty is a comprehensive approach to understanding the dynamics that cause and maintain poverty. With concrete tools and strategies for a community to prevent, reduce, and alleviate poverty at individual and systemic levels, the Bridges Out of Poverty workshop assists participants in making their interactions more productive, efficient, and satisfying for everyone involved.
Understanding emotional reactions, both our own and those of others, can be a great benefit in facilitating and improving communication between service providers and clients. If you are currently engaged in providing services to those experiencing generational poverty, you are aware of the collision of worlds that sometimes takes place between people being served and those who are serving. This can be frustrating and maddening for both!
Learning specific strategies to apply in day-to-day work, workshop participants will analyze poverty through the prism of the hidden rules of class, resources, family structure, and language. Additionally, the workshop references research on mental health and neurological functioning.
Cost: $225 member; $250 nonmember
