Housing Assistance

Homeowners experiencing difficulties paying their home mortgage loan due to impacts of COVID–19 or other financial circumstances should contact their Loan Servicer as soon as possible to learn about options that may be available at this time.

CHFA is committed to our home mortgage customers during this difficult time and is continually monitoring available loss mitigation and home retention options. Those experiencing difficulties paying their CHFA home mortgage loan due to impacts of COVID–19, or other financial circumstances, are encouraged to work with CHFA’s Loan Servicing Team by applying for hardship assistance online at: www.yourmortgageonline.com/Account/Covid19Hardship.

You may also contact CHFA Loan Servicing’s Loss Mitigation team at 866.397.5370. Please know that CHFA Loan Servicing is experiencing a higher than usual call volume at this time, therefore hold and response times may be longer than expected.

HUD-Approved Housing Counseling

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sponsors housing counseling agencies throughout the country. Housing Counselors are available to help Coloradans seeking information about housing assistance that may be available in their community. Contact a counselor in your area for more information. You may also call the Homeowners HOPE™ Hotline 1.888.995.HOPE (4673) to speak with a HUD-certified counselor. There is no charge to work with a HUD-approved counseling agency.

Colorado Division of Housing Interactive Eviction Resources Map

The State of Colorado offers eviction prevention assistance for renters in various parts of the state through several nonprofit organizations. The provision of assistance may be delayed due to high demand. Click here to search for a provider in your area. 

Colorado Division of Housing:  Emergency Rental Assistance and Homeowner Assistance Funds 

If landlords or tenants have been unable to pay rent due to financial hardship caused by COVID-19, they may be eligible for rental assistance from the state. Click here to learn more.

Colorado Housing Connects: 844.926.6632

Colorado Housing Connects is a nonprofit dedicated to providing all residents of Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties with access to general housing and fair-housing resources. Due to current conditions, call volume is high. Callers should follow prompts and leave a message for a call back within 24 to 48 hours. 

3-1-1 Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance - Denver

Brothers Redevelopment also administers the Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. administers the Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance for Denver renters facing a housing crisis or hardship that impacts their ability to pay their rent. Those with a need should call Denver 3-1-1 to receive a referral and determine eligibility.

Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation Temporary Mortgage Assistance

For eligible homeowners who have been impacted by COVID-19 and who own and reside in property in the City and County of Denver. Income limits do apply. Contact CHAC for more information and eligibility criteria.

Colorado Homeownership Coalition temporary mortgage assistance

The Colorado Homeownership Coalition provides limited mortgage assistance to qualified homeowners experiencing a temporary disruption in income to avoid delinquent mortgage payments and ultimately resume self-sufficiency. Click here to visit their website and learn more.
 

Energy Assistance

Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC)
EOC recently released additional energy assistance funds to their agency partners across Colorado and are ready to assist those who have trouble paying their energy bills. Help can be accessed by calling 1.866.HEAT.HELP (1.866.432.8435) or more information on programs can be found at www.EnergyOutreach.org.

    Small Business Assistance

    Denver Business Relief Fund and Emergency Relief Program
    Denver Economic Development and Opportunity (DEDO) is establishing an emergency relief program to provide cash grants of up to $7,500 to qualifying small businesses in Denver. The highest priorities are those most affected by the COVID-19, such as the food industry, nail salons, barbershops, home childcare providers, and retail shops. Click here to learn more.

    SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans 
    Colorado small businesses impacted by COVID-19 can seek individual small business loans up to $2M as part of the Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. Small businesses throughout all of Colorado's 64 counties may seek SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans. Governor Jared Polis announced that Colorado’s application for federal disaster area designation has been approved. Click here to learn more.
     

    Unemployment Benefits

    Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Unemployment Insurance Division is responding to questions from both employers and workers impacted by closures as a result of COVID-19. 
     
    Employees who see a reduction in hours or layoffs are encouraged to apply for unemployment benefits, which can provide partial wage replacement at coloradoui.gov.
