chfa awarded more than $400,000 for housing counseling

​​(DENVER) – Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) was recently awarded $464,414 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through its Comprehensive Housing Counseling Grant Program. The funds will support a total of 11 HUD-approved housing counseling agencies located in Colorado.

"The counseling provided through HUD's Housing Counseling Grant Program offers valuable guidance for households, many of whom may be facing challenging circumstances,” said Cris White, executive director and CEO of CHFA. “CHFA is grateful for its partnership with HUD, and the opportunity to administer funds that will support housing stability for individuals and families throughout the state.”

Housing counseling offered through the HUD Comprehensive Housing Grant Program includes a wide range of services including budgeting and financial education, one-on-one housing counseling for renters and homeowners, education and assistance for unhoused individuals, and assistance for seniors. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, funds allocated through the program and administered by CHFA supported more than 7,700 Colorado households. The agencies that will be supported by the HUD grant are included below.
