(DENVER) – Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is pleased to welcome Colorado State Senator Marc Snyder to its board of directors. CHFA’s board serves as its governing body and is tasked with supporting CHFA’s mission to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. The board is comprised of 11 members including the state auditor, a member of the Governor’s cabinet, eight governor-appointed members confirmed by the State Senate, and one member of Colorado’s General Assembly who is appointed jointly by the Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House.
Senator Snyder, an attorney, serves constituents in Colorado’s State Senate District 12 in El Paso and Teller Counties. He was elected to the State Senate in November 2024 after serving three consecutive terms as State House Representative for Colorado’s House District 18, which also spans portions of El Paso and Teller Counties. Prior to his election to state office, Senator Snyder served 12 years on the Manitou Springs City Council, six of which he served as mayor.
As a state lawmaker, Senator Snyder’s work has focused on increasing affordability, promoting the success of small businesses, protecting the environment, and supporting Colorado’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently serves on the Senate Finance Committee and Senate Local Government and Housing Committee and was previously a member of the House Legal Services Committee, House Business Affairs and Labor Committee, House Judiciary Committee, and chair of the House Finance Committee. In 2022, he co-sponsored SB22-146, authorizing $25 million to expand CHFA’s Middle-income Access Program to promote the development of affordable middle-income rental housing.
Throughout his career, Senator Snyder has served as a leader and a member of more than a dozen regional boards and commissions working to improve local transportation, health, economic development, building, sustainability, urban renewal, restorative justice, and military care. In his law practice, Senator Snyder focuses on wills, trusts, and estates, with a specialization in helping families with adults and children with disabilities. He and his wife Kelly have lived in Manitou Springs since 1995, where they raised their two daughters.
