(DENVER) - Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) welcomes Kaylee A. Romero as its newest Community Relationship Manager serving the San Luis Valley and surrounding region. In her role, Romero will support CHFA’s mission to strengthen Colorado by investing in affordable housing and economic development.
Romero will advance CHFA’s work in Alamosa, Chaffee, Conejos, Costilla, Hinsdale, Lake, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties. During CHFA’s 50-year history serving Colorado, the total invested in these nine counties exceeds $187 million, including $112 million in mortgages and down payment assistance to support affordable homeownership, $19.7 million to support the development and preservation of affordable rental housing, $55.7 million to help small- and medium-sized businesses access capital, and more than $500,000 in grants, sponsorships, and donations.
An Alamosa resident born and raised in the San Luis Valley, Romero most recently served as the Project Director for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Adams State University, where her work centered on supporting migrant seasonal farmworker youth and their families. She is also a proud double alumna of Adams State, having earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the university.
Romero currently sits on boards of directors for La Puente Enterprises, The Young Professional Association of the San Luis Valley, and The San Luis Valley Migrant Seasonal Agricultural Coalition. She is fluent in Spanish, and deeply committed to ongoing involvement in the community.
