Several developments supported by CHFA recently celebrated milestones. From groundbreaking ceremonies to ribbon cuttings, events were held throughout the state to showcase:
Charity’s House Apartments, Denver
Charity’s House Apartments celebrated its groundbreaking on January 21st. It is a 36-unit supportive housing development being built in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood. Charity’s House Apartments will serve individuals who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, individuals with a disability and/or behavioral health condition, and individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system and may benefit from the supportive services offered. Services will be provided by Charity’s House Ministries (a program of Community Outreach Service Center) and Mental Health Center of Denver. CHFA was proud to support the development by awarding federal 4 percent Housing Tax Credits in 2020 and issuing $7.1 million in Private Activity Bonds. CHFA Tax Credit Officer, Meghen Brown, spoke at the event on behalf of CHFA.
Flats at Ford Street, Golden
Flats at Ford Street celebrated its grand opening on January 27th in Golden. This development offers 44 affordable apartments for individuals and families with incomes at or below 30 to 60 percent of the Area Median Income. Family Tree is providing services and referrals for residents. Flats at Ford Street is down the street from Golden High School and near RTD bus lines, grocery stories, retail, and other amenities. CHFA was proud to support the development by awarding federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in 2019. CHFA’s Community Development Director, Steve Johnson, spoke at the grand opening on behalf of CHFA.
Ski Hi Multipurpose Complex, Monte Vista
In 2020, CHFA made a $50,000 contribution to support the new construction of the Ski Hi Multipurpose Complex in Ski Hi Park, a primary event venue serving the San Luis Valley. On February 25th, a grand opening was held to celebrate the project completion. Located in Monte Vista, Ski Hi Park replaced its rodeo fairgrounds and grandstands, and the new complex completes the final renovation phase. The project serves as a catalyst for long-lasting economic impact in the San Luis Valley.
Villas at Mesa Ridge, Fountain
A grand opening was held for Villas at Mesa Ridge in Fountain on February 16th. Villas at Mesa Ridge serves adults ages 62 and older, providing 60 apartments affordable to households with incomes at 30 to 80 percent of the Area Median Income. The development is located five miles from Fort Carson Army Base, which provides many services for its retired military personnel residing in the area. CHFA was proud to support Villas at Mesa Ridge by awarding federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in 2019. This is the first development in Fountain to have been awarded credit in over 15 years and the first tax credit-supported housing serving older adults. CHFA Tax Credit Officer, Meghen Brown, spoke at the grand opening and met some of the property’s residents. “The residents were some of the kindest, most grateful people. They love their new home and are starting to build community,” said Brown.
