affordable housing credit improvement act introduced in senate

This week the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2025 (AHCIA) was introduced in the Senate. Lead sponsors Senators Todd Young (R-IN) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) were joined by 28 original co-sponsors, including Colorado Senator Michael Bennet. CHFA is proud to see bipartisan and bicameral support from the Colorado delegation for this important legislation.

The AHCIA proposes to expand and strengthen the federal Housing Tax Credit and Private Activity Bonds used for affordable housing production and enables the Housing Tax Credit to better serve hard-to-reach communities including rural, Native American, and high-poverty communities.
